Technology & Natural Disasters #2: The Role of Innovation and AI

We had the honor of hosting professors and researchers from NKUA, the Center for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH), members of the Hellenic Rescue Team of Attica, as well as the Directorate of Civil Protection of the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, to talk to us in simple terms about natural disasters & resilience.

The experts discussed the following:

  • What are the natural disasters that threaten our country?
  • How does technology help in the prevention and management of natural disasters?
  • How is technology used in practice by rescuers?
  • How does robotics support disaster response teams?
  • How can technology support responders in getting / sharing timely information, and in timely decision-making?

The speakers’ presentations are available on our website.

AI & Circular Economy

We had the honor of hosting AI Researchers, members of WWF Greece, and business executives, to talk to us about the subject in simple terms. They outlined the context, the opportunities offered by AI and Circular Economy, the challenges faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and specific ways to develop the skills they need through existing programs funded by the EU.

We explored together:

  • What opportunities and challenges does the Circular Economy present for SMEs?
  • What is Artificial Intelligence, and how can it contribute to the Circular Economy?
  • What tools facilitate the transition of SMEs to a sustainable circular direction?
  • What skills do SMEs need to develop to meet the double challenge of adapting to AI and the Circular Economy?
  • How can they do this by leveraging existing programs that are offered for free?

The speakers’ presentations and the video recording of the event are available on our website.

New Materials, Nanotechnology & AI: Designing Tomorrow

We had the honor of hosting distinguished researchers, internationally renowned professors, and business executives, who spoke to us in simple terms about the subject.

We explored together exciting areas:

  • How are the materials of tomorrow designed (flexible semiconductors, self-healing, biomimetic), and how does AI reduce the time and cost to their discovery?
  • Can we “close the sky in a bottle”? What does the use of NASA material in Art reveal to us?
  • What secrets do material surfaces hold, and how does AI help us leverage them in applications from medicine to microelectronics?

The speakers’ presentations and the video recording of the event are available on our website.

New Materials, Nanotechnology & AI #2: Designing Tomorrow

We had the honor of hosting distinguished researchers, internationally renowned professors, and business executives, who spoke to us in simple terms about the subject.

We explored together:

  • How do nanotechnology and “smart” laboratories accelerate the creation of new, durable materials?
  • How do 3D printing and printed electronics open new avenues for innovative constructions, including robotics?
  • How does AI contribute to the design of aerospace structures?
  • What secrets do material surfaces hide, and how does AI help us leverage them in applications ranging from medicine to microelectronics?
  • How do component reconstruction and the use of advanced materials offer economic and environmental benefits while supporting local economies?
  • How does AI use in the physical sciences help us make discoveries and innovate?

The speakers’ presentations and the video recording of the event are available on our website.
