New Materials, Nanotechnology & AI: Designing Tomorrow

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 19:00, SciFY held the 50th SciFY Academy, titled “New Materials, Nanotechnology & AI: Designing Tomorrow”, online.

Participation is free and open to everyone!

The aim was to discuss key issues such as:

  • How are the materials of tomorrow designed (flexible semiconductors, self-healing, biomimetic), and how does AI reduce the time and cost to their discovery?
  • Can we “close the sky in a bottle”? – What does the use of a NASA material in Art reveal to us?
  • What secrets do material surfaces hold, and how does AI help us exploit them in applications from medicine to microelectronics?

Initially, Prof. Ioannis Michaloudis, Founding Dean of the School of Humanities and Arts at the American University of Cyprus (Larnaca) – AUCY, answered the allegorical question: “Can we put the sky in a bottle?” and helped us discover how the collaboration of art and science can awaken us and inspire solutions for the future of the planet. See his presentation here.

Then, Dr. Panagiotis Krokidas, Associate Researcher at NCSR “Demokritos”, spoke about how the materials of tomorrow are designed with the help of Artificial Intelligence. See his presentation here.

Finally, Dr. Anastasios Siozos, Head of Cutting-Edge Technologies Development at BiC VIOLEX, gave a speech entitled “Nanotechnology and new materials at the service of the consumer”.
