5 Key Elements for a Successful Online Presence

On Wednesday, June 8th, SciFY organized the 12th SciFY Academy on “Successful Online Presence” at the INNOVATHENS Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub of the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens.

Once again, representatives from all business sectors, as well as students from Marketing, Finance, and Tourism schools, came to INNOVATHENS to watch Stelios Dourakis from Grow Greek Tourism Online explain how to build a successful online presence. Mr. Stelios Dourakis, advisor at Grow Greek Tourism Online, with experience in Online Marketing and Tourism, spoke to us about the key elements a new entrepreneur should pay attention to to achieve a Successful Online Presence, with special reference to the field of tourism.

Initially, Mr. Dourakis presented us with data from a study on the tourism industry and how it has been affected by the Internet, and, more specifically, by Mobile Internet, which is gaining ground both in our country and worldwide.

Then Mr. Dourakis discussed what to consider when creating a website to promote our products or services, and how this differs when we aim abroad. A large part of the presentation was devoted to making our online presence mobile-friendly, and we discussed the importance of mobile accessibility for our website, especially in the field of Tourism.

Vassilis Salapatas, co-founder of SciFY, opened the event by presenting two new projects developed by the SciFY team for companies and professionals.

Searching for New Clients: He talked about Contact Harvester, an informational tool that, upon completion, will allow us to expand our professional network easily and quickly. The user searches for potential customers with keywords (or simply points to some potential customer sites!), and Contact Harvester provides a detailed list of potential customers with their contact information, social networks, etc.

Automatic Comment Analysis: Finally, he presented the Open Comments Analyzer, which enables fast, automatic analysis of comments across multiple languages. It’s a valuable tool for market research and public relations firms, customer service departments, media, etc. See the demo version here.

Grow Greek Tourism Online is a Google initiative that aims to strengthen the digital skills of tourism professionals throughout Greece and train them in online tools. The event was held with the support of Google, the Ministry of Tourism, ΕΟΤ, and SΕΤΕ.
