A few words about the speakers and content:

First, we will hear from Vlasis Korovilos, Expert in the Department of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Skills at Cedefop – European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training. In his speech, he will share with us the results of Cedefop’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills survey (2024) on the adoption of AI in Greece and the views of Greek workers on AI. He will also talk to us about:

  • Skills and professions with greater resilience to the expansion of AI.
  • Different scenarios for the future of skills development amid the spread of Artificial Intelligence.

Next, Despina Valassi, Dr. of Sociology and Researcher at the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen, and Merchants (GSEVEE), will give a speech entitled “Socio-emotional skills: how essential are they for the labor market in the era of Artificial Intelligence?” More specifically, the speech will touch on the following questions:

  • Which skills cannot be replaced by Artificial Intelligence, and why are they the new competitive advantage in the labor market?
  • What are employers looking for today, beyond technical knowledge, and how does this change the way we secure and maintain a job?
  • Socio-emotional skills (soft skills): Why do they ensure our stability in a changing work environment?

Then, Dr. Fotini Salmouka, Deputy General Manager at ahedd Digital Innovation Hub S.A, will give us simple examples to form an understandable and realistic picture of the labor market. More specifically, among others, she will address the following:

  • How does Artificial Intelligence affect studies and professions today?
  • What skills seem to be gaining importance, and how are career choices changing?
  • What do these changes mean in practice, and how can parents and educators support young people in developing useful skills, such as adaptability, critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate with technology?

In closing, Anthi Sidiropoulou, Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), will speak to us on the subject of “Psychology of Communication,” with an emphasis on Cyberpsychology. More specifically, she will address the following:

  • How can we move with stability in an “uncertain environment” with rapid technological changes?
  • How do synthetic thinking, creativity, and crisis management skills function as a lever for professional development?
  • What skills lead to emotional maturity and personal development of a person?

The event is held with the support of the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society and the Greek Network of Gender Equality and Antidiscrimination Committees in Research Centers and Independent Research Institutes (GEARnet).

SciFY Academy is a series of educational activities open to all who are interested, organized by the non-profit organization Science For You – SciFY, to promote the free dissemination of knowledge. Already, the beneficiaries are more than 10,000, and the actions continue!

Through the SciFY Academy initiative, SciFY aspires to create a platform for discussion by bringing together representatives from the fields of research, business, and Civil Society with citizens, students, and professionals.
