AI Pioneers in Civil Society

WHAT WE DO -> PROJECTS -> AI Pioneers in Civil Society

With the support of Teleperformance Greece, SciFY trains Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) active in various fields (environment, support of vulnerable groups, youth empowerment, etc.) in Artificial Intelligence through targeted seminars and workshops. The trained organizations use the new knowledge and skills to improve their social impact.

SciFY

  • Adapted its successful training program “Pioneers in AI” to the needs of Civil Society (CS) organizations.
  • Trained ten CS organizations in Artificial Intelligence.
  • Offered guidance on the use of Artificial Intelligence by NGOs.
  • Organized an event to disseminate the results to CS organizations.

Funding

The project is implemented for free for the participating organizations thanks to the support of Teleperformance Greece in the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility program and its initiatives that promote innovation and the empowerment of civil society.

The Civil Society (CS) is undertaking a vast project in Greece, addressing a wide range of needs within Greek society despite limited resources. The potential benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for CS organizations are numerous. Unfortunately, AI remains largely unexplored in this field. Through this project, we aim to assist organizations in capitalizing on the business opportunities that AI offers while understanding its potential risks. Specific examples will be provided.

Indicatively, AI-powered technologies can be used:

  • to identify patterns and predict outcomes to improve decision-making processes;
  • to improve their efficiency in processes such as fund-raising, social network management, content development;
  • to analyze data and provide information on social issues such as poverty, disease and climate change;
  • in chatbots and AI-powered virtual assistants to provide real-time support to people in need, reducing response times and increasing service efficiency;
  • for the development of predictive models to identify and prevent potential social problems before they occur, etc.

By the end of the program:

  • A new program for training NGOs in Artificial Intelligence (AI) will have been created.
  • Ten NGOs will have been trained in the use of AI.
  • The trained organizations will have developed a plan to utilize AI with the goal of increasing their efficiency around Sustainable Development Goals.
  • All the organizations involved will have actionable material to improve their effectiveness with AI applications.
  • Expertise in the utilization of AI in permanent support structures for CS organizations will have been developed (at HIGGS).
  • Dozens of NGOs will have been informed about the project, laying the foundations for further development of the program.
