Flagship European project for active aging - Digital solutions for the 3rd age.
- The SHAPES – Smart and Health Aging through People Engaging in Supportive Systems project was an innovation action funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program with the participation of 36 partners from 14 European countries.
- We developed an integrated technology platform that brings together a wide range of digital solutions focused on improving people’s health, wellbeing, and independence as they grow older.
- The platform offers a large-scale network of interconnected digital products and services, empowering older people, their families, and their carers.
- These solutions are aimed towards elderly adults who face a temporary or permanent decrease in their functionality and physical or mental skills but also towards helping those who are healthy so they maintain their health and well-being for as long as possible.

While Europe’s population is aging, life expectancy is increasing. The citizens of the EU can remain productive and active beyond the regular retirement age. Preserving a healthy life requires solutions that prevent or minimize the risks of injury, weakness, and long-term conditions.
