A few words about the speakers and content:

First, Dr. Dora Katsamori, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications of NCSR “Demokritos”, will speak about the challenges and prospects of children’s presence in the digital world. In her talk, she will address, among other things:

  • How can I prepare my child for safe participation in a digital world?
  • Regulatory framework and best practices for minors’ use of digital applications.
  • How does children’s digital presence affect their behavior in the physical environment (learning/social skills, etc.)?

Next, Dr. Katerina Pastra, Principal Researcher, Head of the “Language & Robots” Lab at the Athena Research Center, and president of the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Association (EETN), will deliver a talk titled “Growing Up with Artificial Intelligence: A Challenge for All of Us.” More specifically, the following questions will be explored:

  • How do children and adolescents use AI in their daily lives?
  • How should AI be properly used in education, both inside and outside school?
  • What are the challenges for parents in the new reality of Artificial Intelligence?

Then, Konstantinos Doulgeris, Clinical Psychologist and PhD Candidate in Clinical Psychology at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, will speak about Artificial Intelligence and mental health in education. His talk will address the following:

  • How can AI support the promotion of students’ mental health?
  • What framework ensures its proper use so it provides the desired benefits and functions as a tool rather than a potential obstacle for teachers and students?
  • Where can the incorrect or excessive use of AI tools for mental health lead? (skill development, dependencies, etc.)

The event is held with the support of the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Society and the Greek Network of Gender Equality and Antidiscrimination Committees in Research Centers and Independent Research Institutes (GEARnet).

SciFY Academy is a series of educational activities open to all who are interested, organized by the non-profit organization Science For You – SciFY, to promote the free dissemination of knowledge. Already, the beneficiaries are more than 10,000, and the actions continue!

Through the SciFY Academy initiative, SciFY aspires to create a platform for discussion by bringing together representatives from the fields of research, business, and Civil Society with citizens, students, and professionals. The goal is to learn from the recent past and understand what is happening now, to stay informed about new as well as existing technologies, be inspired by scientific achievements, and shed more light on issues that significantly affect our lives.
